Stilts develops the balance necessary for gross motor skills. Standing on two feet with legs apart is a good position of balance. When getting on stilts, moving weight to one leg to get the opposite foot lifted, moves the center of gravity. Basis of support (area touching the ground) becomes smaller so the child should balance himself. Overcome the feeling of being off-balance. Automatic balance reaction helping the child to recover balance from an off-balance position. Balancing reactions keep developing as a child grows.
